THOUBHA

Launched in 2022 by Abolish 153, Thoubha was created to help mitigate domestic violence rates in Kuwait in an accessible and comprehensive manner. Designed to look like a fashion news stream app on the surface, Thoubha offers educational resources, self assessment tools, and the opportunity to connect with legal assistance, medical professionals, and other services suited to each survivor’s needs. In conjunction with the helpline.
As the user base continues to expand and the team understands the gaps in knowledge or resources further, the application will continue to develop to better accommodate survivors.

SAJELNI

In pursuit of change through action, “Sajelni” worked on holding the first ever voter registration drive in Kuwait and the Middle East. After getting the numbers and doing proper research, women under the age of 35 were found to generally be almost twice as likely to be under-registered compared to male voters. In many areas in Kuwait (both tribal and urban) between 25% to 50% of eligible women are not registered to vote. While we will be registering all eligible voters that approach us, our focus will be on female voters. In cooperation with Abolish 153, a Kuwait-based advocacy campaign, we will offer all the information needed for people to independently register themselves.
In February 2020, we planned to have the largest possible number of eligible and unregistered female voters in Kuwait to register, but our mission did not stop there. We plan to continue actively engaging registrants to express their voice in upcoming elections by exerting pressure on candidates to adopt a platform that expands women’s rights in Kuwait.
